Yesterday, I was looking at Travelocity and setting up some trips on the Fare Watcher. I noticed that it said Honolulu to San Antonio for $397 plus fees. Out of curiosity I clicked on it. The calendar popped up and it showed that the fare was available for February 11th - the next day! I thought, "Yeah, right!" but clicked anyway. There really were flights available. Unbelievable! I was able to book a roundtrip ticket to San Antonio leaving tonight for $440.00. Can you believe that? We've lived in Hawaii for over two years and have never paid less than $800.00 for a mainland trip ticket.
I'm going home for a week, returning to Hawaii on February 18th. I'll be able to see Ben in Austin, visit friends and attend the dedication of Concordia's new sanctuary. I'm so excited! The only bad part is that Terry can't go with me. He's just too busy at work and can't get away. I'll miss him.
I've been frantically trying to get things done before I leave tonight but think I'm all set. I bought a new suitcase so I'll have room to bring a brisket home from HEB. I had to get my little friend Rudy some Hawaiian dog treats and I got Hawaiian chocolates for human friends. I also want Terry to have food to eat and ironed shirts to wear, just like it would be if I was here, so I've been working to make sure everything is in order.
I love going home although it's a bit stressful trying to see everyone I want to see. There never seems to be enough time and I always leave having missed someone. I'll do my best and enjoy the time I have there. I'm praying the cedar's not too bad. Ugh! Allergies!
Watch out Texas - here I come!
